Starring

LEAH COOMBS as Briar Rose
Leah Coombs is a recent graduate of Sheridan Institute’s Music Theatre Performance program. Leah has played such roles as Julia in The Rivals, Katie MacQueen in Brigadoon, Ado Annie in Oklahoma, and ensemble in Two Gentlemen of Verona. Born and raised in Newfoundland, this is Leah’s first production with STC. She is really excited to be a part of Sleeping Beauty (and to see the giant nickel!) You can see Leah perform her series of cabarets at Statlers, downtown Toronto in 2010.
DEBORAH DRAKEFORD as Branwen
Having spent childhood years in Espanola, Deb is delighted to be back at STC where she appeared in Rabbit Hole. She has worked at many theatres across Canada. Favourites include Rabbit Hole, Same Time Next Year, The Laramie Project, Innocence Lost, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She’s done television, film and animation voice-overs. Deb makes her home in Toronto with her husband, actor Oliver Dennis, and their children Charlotte and Philip.
KATHERINE EAST as Mordron
Katherine is very happy to be returning to STC with new AD David Savoy at the helm! Theatre credits include Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast (STC); Whale Music (Seventh Stage/Tarragon Extra Space); Not Now Darling (Drayton); Kiss With Your Teeth, Killing of Sister George (Buddies in Bad Times). Film and television credits include Ron James Show, Being Erica, Blindness, MVP, Puck Hogs, GUNS, Da Kink In My Hair, The Bill, Puppets Who Kill, The Eleventh Hour, Profoundly Normal. Katherine thanks her parents for continuing to believe in her 
ALEXIS KOETTING is thrilled to return to STC where she was last seen in Three Days of Rain. She has been blessed with some amazing opportunities in her career: acting along side her husband, Bruce; most recently in The Love List and The Owl and the Pussycat; two seasons with the Stratford Festival; and he role of Gertrude Bell in the History Channel’s Women Adventure Series. Wishing everyone a safe and enchanting holiday season.
JEFF MILLER as King Peredur / Spider King
Jeff is delighted to be back for his fourth show at STC and for the second time this season. He was a particularly unattractive woman as Leo/Maxine in the season-opener Leading Ladies. Others for STC, Half Life and Rabbit Hole. He appeared in 16 productions for Nipissing Stage including Stones In His Pockets and Moon Over Buffalo. Toronto theatre includes The Laramie Project, Poochwater and One Good Marriage. Special thanks to David Savoy for this and several other fabulous opportunities for over 20 years of friendship.
CURTIS TWEEDIE as Prince Owain
Curtis is thrilled to be working with STC and to be in Sudbury for the very first time. He grew up on the west coast of Canada and is currently in his second year of studies at the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, BC. Curtis’ credits include 42nd St., Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and Footloose. Many thanks to STC for this fantastic opportunity and much love to his incredibly supportive mentors, friends, and family
JAMES WALLIS as Gryff
James’ favourite credits include The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Measure for Measure, As You Like It (Ryerson Theatre School); Finer Noble Gases, The Unseen Hand (The Bleecker Theatre Company); Paradise by the River (Shadowpath Theatre); Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare’s Magic (Theatre by the Bay); Titus Andronicus in Titus Andronicus (Red Light District); Romeo and Juliet, Love’s Labour’s Lost, and a tour of The Little Prince (Resurgence Theatre Company). He would like to thank the boys, his parents, Julia and of course Jesse for getting him here. Go Dragons.


DARCY EVANS Director
Darcy was the Associate Director for Little Women on Broadway as well as the first US national tour. Regional work includes As Bees In Honey Drown (Company C, Victoria, BC); 2,346 Miles from Broadway (Centre 64). He was Associate Director for The Music Man, To Kill A Mockingbird, Hello Dolly! (Stratford Festival, six seasons); Heartland (Madison Rep., Wisconsin/Dallas Summer Musicals, Texas); Not Wanted On the Voyage (CanStage). Casting Director credits include Stratford Shakespeare Festival productions of The Music Man, Cabaret and The King & I. He received his training at UVic, BFA Theatre, Directing.
DOUG ROBINSON Set Designer
Doug is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and The Motley Theatre Design Course, London. Sleeping Beauty is Doug’s second production for STC, the first being this season’s Leading Ladies. His most recent project was The Fly Fisher’s Companion (Magnus Theatre,Thunder Bay). Doug will be  back in February with  the  set design for Norm Foster’s The Love List. Doug’s designs for theatre can be viewed on his website: web.me.com/dougrobinson.
TRAVIS HATT Lighting Desinger
Travis is excited to be designing another wonderful family show at STC. Previous STC design credits include Doubt, Leading Ladies, Sweeney Todd, A Year With Frog and Toad, The Miser, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, and The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (abridged); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hart House); Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch (Ghost Light Projects); Memories of the Rat Pack (Port Stanley Festival Theatre); Nijinsky: Through a Window (The MT Space); Marat/Sade, Mimetic Flesh (U. of Waterloo Drama Department).
JOANNE KELEMEN This is Joanne’s third show with STC this season.  She studied costume design a the John Abbott College in Montreal. She has been dreaming of designing Sleeping Beauty for a very long time. “Thank you Sheila and Leslie for helping me make my dream come true and sorry is was such a nightmare getting to the final stitch! Thanks to David Savoy for his continued faith and to Darcy Evans for his enthusiasm.”
SHAUNA JAPP Stage Manager
Shauna is delighted to be SM-ing her ninth performance at STC and to be reunited with David Savoy. A few past favorites she SM-ed here were Doubt, A Parable, Sylvia, and Forever Plaid. Shauna last worked with David at Showboat Theatre SM-ing Over the River and Through the Woods, and Sherlock’s Last Case. She has spent the last four summers production stage managing at The Blyth Festival. Shauna sends her love and gratitude to her parents and dear friends.
